Utō Shrine

善知鳥神社

Uto Shrine sits in the very center of Aomori City and is honored as the city's birthplace, the guardian shrine around which the port town first grew. It takes its name from the uto seabird of local legend, immortalized in the classical noh play 'Uto,' and offers a quiet wooded refuge steps from the station.
