Zōjō-ji Temple

増上寺

Zojo-ji is the great Jodo (Pure Land) temple of Tokyo and the funerary temple of the Tokugawa shoguns, six of whom are buried in its mausoleum. Its imposing Sangedatsumon gate survives from the early Edo period, and the main hall framed against Tokyo Tower is one of the city's classic views.
