Zuigan-ji Temple
瑞巌寺
Zuigan-ji is the great Zen temple of Matsushima, one of Japan's three most celebrated scenic spots, magnificently rebuilt by the daimyo Date Masamune in the early Edo period. Its main hall and kitchen are National Treasures, with gorgeously painted sliding doors, and meditation caves carved into the rock line the approach.
