Katori Jingū
香取神宮
Katori Jingu in Chiba Prefecture enshrines Futsunushi, deity of swords and martial valor, and together with nearby Kashima Jingu forms one of the great paired shrines of eastern Japan. Long revered by warriors, it lends its name to one of Japan's oldest martial arts traditions, and its cypress-bark-roofed halls sit in a stately forest.
