Ōmi Jingū
近江神宮
Omi Jingu in Otsu, overlooking Lake Biwa, enshrines Emperor Tenji, who moved his capital to this area in the seventh century. Because Tenji is credited with Japan's first water clock, the shrine hosts a clock museum, and as the setting of national competitive karuta championships it is a pilgrimage site for fans of the card game.
