Tōdai-ji Temple
東大寺
Todai-ji in Nara is one of Buddhism's grandest temples and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its vast Daibutsuden hall houses the Great Buddha, a bronze statue of Vairocana about fifteen meters tall, and the surrounding park is roamed by free-ranging deer regarded as messengers of the gods.
