Kumano Hongū Taisha

熊野本宮大社

Kumano Hongu Taisha is the head of Japan's thousands of Kumano shrines and a centerpiece of the UNESCO-listed Kumano Kodo pilgrimage routes through the Kii Mountains. Nearby at Oyunohara, the shrine's original riverside site, stands a colossal torii gate, among the largest in the world.
