Kunōzan Tōshō-gū

久能山東照宮

Kunozan Tosho-gu in Shizuoka is the original resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu, built on a seaside mountain before his enshrinement at Nikko. Its brilliantly colored and gilded shrine buildings are National Treasures, reached by climbing more than a thousand stone steps or by ropeway from the Nihondaira plateau.
