Kasuga-taisha

春日大社

Kasuga Taisha, Nara's grand vermilion shrine at the foot of the sacred hills, was established as the tutelary shrine of the Fujiwara clan and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some three thousand stone and bronze lanterns line its paths and halls, all lit during the magical Mantoro festivals in February and August.
